After serving four years in the Navy, Joe studied art and welding in college.  He then spent over twenty five years as a professional welder, working mainly with aluminum and stainless steel materials. His welding ability combined with an innate artistic talent gave him the skill to create his highly original animal sculptures using a variety of "found" objects.

Joe Pogan currently resides in Aloha, Oregon where he continues to produce and sell his artwork. He also accepts special orders (fish sculptures) that can even incorporate his clients personal objects.
