Worn Again Virgin is a collection of bags form old Virgin Atlantic airline seat covers along with other reclaimed items like discarded seat belts and inner tubes of bicycle tires. This is an initiative by Virgin Atlantic Airlines to reduce the waste generated by the discarded items. As a result of this initiative, the money raised goes to a charitable fund that is managed by Anti Apathy, who are a nonprofit organizations trying to promote sustainable lifestyle.


Cigarette butts are non biodegradable and hence are a threat to environment. However, Chilean based designer the Geurrero Mantis has found a way to use them to create attires. Couture has always depicted the modern trends and the designer has aimed at promoting a cause with the use of 10% of these recycled cigarette butts in his clothing line. His work is called the Mantis project and it aims at the use of the cigarette filters constructively so that they do not cause pollution.


Cans that have been thrown away have found a creative use with the organization called Canstruction. The organization raises funds to fight against hunger. It has been at the center of competitions involving art made out of recyclable cans. As a result of these competitions, the world has seen a huge amount of talent and exceptional forms of art work. This recycled lamp has been made using strips on empty Tetra Brik boxes which are folded and put together in this amazing spherical structure. The basic shape of the lamp is in the form of a geodesic dome that is created by folding the strips into triangles and then a hexagonal module. It takes approximately 450 of these boxes to finish one lamp design.

Designer Anja from Netherlands has used recyclable paper and turned it into exquisite and beautiful lampshade design that gives a room its signature looks. This is a lampshade unlike any that you would have ever seen before. There is a blend of paper and dried flowers used in the design and that is what gives this lamp its white and yellowish texture. This is an excellent example of recycled art form.


Artist Aurora Robson has been an expert creator of recycled artwork.
